The picture, inspired by the mirror reflexion of a man in the Velazquez’ painting ‘Las Meninas’, is a pun on the three words having similar sound but different meanings:

          REFLEX         a split second instinctive reaction in response to external stimulus;

          REFLEXION    thoughtful consideration existing on a different time level;

          REFLEXION    visual phenomenon

The imaginary robed figures of antiquity - philosophers, judges, religious hierarchy(?), inventors of a morality code, founders of a civilisation - the rule makers; man reflected in the mirror lives in the present, trying to avoid the knocks of everyday life; his adversary stands firmly in the present, his mind being transported elsewhere - the rule breaker.
